She's In!

Saying, "The stakes will be high when America chooses a new president in 2008," Hilliary Clinton today announced the formation of a presidential exploration committee.

"No matter where you live, no matter what your political views, I want you to be part of this important conversation right at the start."

The time has come for a woman to be our commander-in-chief, for a woman to set the tone for the country, and for a woman to restore our country's dignity and word across the globe.

For those who do not believe her candidancy has a chance, I point you to her tenure as senator from New York state. How many pundits said she would not even win her first primary there?

Unlike Senator Obama, whom I respect immensely, Senator Clinton's political and private life is an open book. It is a book filled with victories and defeats, with a clear record of where she stands on the issues. Unlike some of the other Democratic prospects, Senator Clinton's campaign for the presidency will be her first.

Unlike several of her prospective Republican rivals, Senator Clinton favors a new approach in Iraq. She has the highest favorability rating of any potential candidate (on either side), and she is the only Democratic candidate who beats both the top Republican candidates in the latest polls.

It was Hillary Clinton who warned us over a dozen years ago that our health care system was in crisis. She, unlike my parents' senators in PA, would probably not be surprised to learn that Medicare decided a few years ago that insulin should still be covered, by the syringes used to inject the insulin should not be!

Let's also not lose sight of the fact that while the Republican party seems to be parading forward the usual quantity of middle-aged white men, the top Democratic candidates thus far include a woman and two men of color - Senator Obama and Governor Bill Richardson.
